I've set my 718 up to do crown molding. I had Bill at WDR in Kansas City make me three 1/8 thick knives to fit in the planer head. Rather than cutting the gibs down or having new gibs made I used 1/8 flat stock to go under the gibs where the knives are not so they will clamp evenly. I did the set up and ran some poplar stock I worked great But when I removed the cover to check the torque on the gibs I found one end of one of the 1/8 flat bars had slipped out a little at the end opposite the knives. I spoke with woodmaster and Bill and they both recommend I do not use this type of set up. My thought was to use bolts in the jack screw holes to hold the bar down as a safety device. I could use any additional advice anyone has to offer. I have photos I can post if you want to see my set up. I don't have the aux. molding knife shaft but I do have a woodmaster crown molding knife and the gib that goes with it. Thanks. David
