I have been using a 718 for a few months now with hopes of doing the trim and floors for the house I will start building next spring. In the mean time I trying to sell some moulding and flooring to pay for the machine and make the wife a little less angry at me. I have the corrugated moulding head and have come across some knives with a profile that think i can sell and use in the new house. The problem is the knives are too tall. The knives are hitting the stock before the rollers even touch it. Being new at this i assumed that all knives were created equal. I now know the knives came from one of the large 5 head moulding machines. I believe my choices are grinding the knives down or find larger diameter rollers? Have any of you run across this before? Any advise or suggestions will be appreciated.

I highly recommend not using the knives you have found, however, a machine shop could probably mill off some of the bottom of the knife. If it were me, I would not use them.

This post has got me thinking about how awesome it would be to have a woodmaster style molder that ran the same size heads as say a Weinig. The only problem is I'm pretty sure you would have to run some form of a pressure shoe.
